French Drop

Effect:

A magician takes a coin and makes it disappear it in front of the spectator eyes.

Method:

First of all get a coin. I find a 10p (or a quarter works good for those of you in america) is perfect for this trick. Now turn your hand over so your palm is facing you. Hold the coin with your fingers and thumb so it’s facing you. You will hold the coin with which ever hand is most comfortable. Now with the opposite hand, you put the thumb under the coin and all your fingers above the coin to cover it. Now with the hand holding the coin, keep your hand in exactly the same position but drop the coin into your palm. You need to make sure when you do this that all the fingers and thumb stay in the same position. While you’re doing this, the other hand that is covering the coin bends into a fist to make it look like that hand has taken the coin. In fact the other hand has the coin. Now with your hand that doesn’t have the coin in, keep it in a fist. The hand that does have the coin points at the hand that doesn’t. Now you say to the spectator “watch”. Then slowly open the hand and they will see that the coin has disappeared.
